At the WPO conference, several of the ladies from NY1 and NY3 discussed holding a joint retreat. The benefit is that it would save each group's retreat cost and time and get to know each other better.
a) I will send a Google form to both NY1 and NY3. I want to finalize the dates and speakers by the end of July.
b) Some of the speakers we get for June and July are "auditioning" for the retreat. They will give a 45-minute free presentation to the group. Any workshop commitment will include a cost.
c) The NY group and I discussed the old format for their retreat. Since this will be a joint retreat, I wanted to convey the current format to NY3, allowing you to decide whether or not you wish to do a joint meeting, have a separate one, or none.
· NY1 format - 3 speakers on serious and light topics (an example of a light topic is how exercising benefits us; biz topic would be serious); 1 ½ days; Thurs + half day on Friday (fun activity); catering included. If we have dinner off-premises, each person pays for their meal. This format has worked well for years.
· NY1 retreats were held at the Yale Club for approximately $1200/pp, after WPO stipend. Cost included speaker fee for 3 speakers, Yale room for Chapter Chair, and airfare from Canada for one of the speakers.
· I have given participants a choice of other dates besides Thur/Friday as we want to see all possible team and speaker availabilities. It will also take into account if NY1 and NY3 want totally different things. In that case, we would go back to separate meetings.
· If we have a joint meeting, I would combine the WPO stipends to get better speakers or lower the event cost and catering costs.
d) We discussed space alternatives to the Yale Club if cost is a factor:
· Lisa volunteered that we could use her beautiful WeWork space (rooftop?) which she gets for free.
· Frances also has free space in her building on the 46th Floor with a beautiful view.
· Let me know if any NY3 member can access free or sponsored space.
