How to handle a Family Business?

Nowadays it’s really hard to handle with the trust that we have with our family- we speak things that we wouldn’t speak the same way with other people.
And sometimes it can be really hard on taking some decisions. How can we make it smoother the decisions and make a good environment without discussions between the parts?

I invest with my family (brother, sister, parents) - in real estate and small businesses. We have been working on communication and honestly it's a constant thing we need to work on (as very expressive people lol). It has helped us to create a written, internal Code of Conduct, where we identify rules for our meetings and discussions.
We try to meet outside of the house, always! This adds formality, which is helpful. And we also review our Code before we have formal meetings on investments, which helps everyone adjust the mood before beginning. Hope that helps!
