Follow-up from November Meeting

Hi everyone,

A big thank you to Katrina and her team from KNow Research for an engaging panel discussion focused on "Gen Z in the Workplace". It was a nice change of pace to sit back, listen, and learn from the five young professionals who joined us and shared their perspectives on work, work culture, management, career and life ambitions. As business leaders, it was a reminder of the power of being intentional about the culture and norms we create, and how important it is to actively role model and coach the behaviors we expect in the workplace. Authentic engagement, mutuality, and purpose were key themes. And a reminder that language matters. I agree with one guest who shared with me as they left, "It's really not that hard of a lift".

The big news in our chapter was Joyce's successful sale of her business. Congratulations to Joyce for building her business, making a tangible and broad professional contribution to her field, and for navigating a deal that allows her to achieve her personal goals in life. There are several others in the chapter who are actively engaged in company exits and/or financing deals, so we have prioritized this topic for our February retreat. It's not all about the exit, but it is important to think about what can and should be done early on to optimize the assets you are building. I'll be working with Joyce, Kelly, Andrea, Krista and others on this.

There are many exciting events on the horizon. Please check your calendars now and RSVP for the following if you haven't already. We are signing contracts with these venues and it's helpful to know if you just can't make it. It's better to RSVP with a yes, no, or maybe, than not at all.

* December 5th Holiday Celebrations at Lisa Says Gah! and Liholiho Yacht Club.
* February 23-25th Chapter Retreat at Carmel Valley Ranch

We are also considering adding a regional event in Fall 2025 at Canyon Ranch Woodside for all of the Northern California chapters. Focus would be on wellness and balance, and connecting with WPO members in our region. I'd be interested in your feedback as to whether this would be of interest to you.

I wish you and your loved ones a very Happy Thanksgiving! Our kids will be with us, bringing along friends. It's always a fun time in the kitchen with the Gen Zers, for example, to see them pull-up a YouTube video on how to spatchcock a turkey, do it for us real-time, and then to hear them poke fun at my china which I've now learned has images of colonization. I'm thankful life is full of learning.

With gratitude,

Teri
