We focus on the big picture - our mission - either through an all staff meeting, or Friday early release dessert/happy hour time with some kind of "thank you" message.
If the team seems fragmented, we find ways to connect whether over a lunch (even a potluck lunch or dinner, if cash is tight), or team building / even silly games. Laughter and lightheartedness usually brings the team close.
There's lots you can do to raise morale and it usually entails us top leaders setting the mood, and rolling our sleeves up to serve the employees in some simple fashion, and somehow showing appreciation since "we're all in this together." We've seen simple things go a long way.
