We don't compete to WIN; we compete to be DIFFERENT. That difference comes from understanding your core customers' needs and desires and how those desires are currently being met by the market. Trying to copy your competition leads to a head-to-head battle and price compression. Rather than getting into a price war, you want to create an offering that addresses your customer needs in a way nobody else is doing. A well-differentiated and highly valuable offering can name its price, which makes it easier to sell because your value is clear, it is easier to create more profit by creating more value, and it is easier to deliver because you are not trying to be everything to everyone. A Strategy Canvas helps you visualize your market, see the bloody waters and wide-open blue oceans and helps you plot a course toward profit and success.
